Metamosaic

It's been two weeks since I started my intern. Days seem to pass so fast, probably because I had so much fun working as intern.

To me, Metamosaic seems like a small family, with everyone taking care of each other so much, joking so much, and even being crazy so much. And what's more interesting is, the company has four bosses and each of them always join in the fun, even making the "fun" itself (except for one who is quite cool/cold, LOL). Even I'm on a cloudy mood, they can turn it into bright sky.

If you ask me what I learned so far, I can't really explain. Perhaps I had so much fun until it didn't matter. All I hope is that the fun can last a little longer. This company has a working environment that I longed for. The boss even welcomed me to return to the company after I graduate (and expect me to pick up some extra skills XD when I return). To them, what matters is the "people", not the "profit".

Everyone here always work far more longer than office hour, including myself. Some may think that we are trying to "bok sing jik" (trying to climb the corparate ladder), but I can tell that the company has so much fun it became a place worth hanging out. Why leave when we get the chance to shoot each other in Call of Duty after work? I think the boss look so younger than his age is because he knows how to have fun to relieve stress, and have a good wife (which he claims XD).

Anyway, I'm glad I worked there and meeting these people. This is how life should be.

Hiatus

Hello all. Ok, I'll be making this quick and short. I'll be on hiatus and leaving this blog for awhile, perhaps a month. The past week I've been doing some artworks and I screwed up fugly-ly (fucking ugly-ly). So, I will undergo an intense training for the coming month with my tight internship schedule.

Anyway, recently I got great resources from my great big bro and my caring father. With these resources, hopefully I'll be able to improve with godspeed.

Thanks to everyone who came. Even with my sucky works, you guys still come and read my blog, I am truly grateful. To me, you guys are really true friends, thank you.

See you then.

To Do List

Just a random update, nothing much. Here's my to do list for the internship period which I categorise as personal projects. Seriously, if I'm not able to complate it, it proves that I learned nothing and not improving for the internship period. I failed to reach the summit of the mountain.

Detail modeling
1. Bugatti Veyron
2. Porsche 911 GT3 (revise)
3. Interior scene

Low Poly Modeling
1. Mini Copper
2. An interior scene
3. A mecha/machine/engine thingy

Concept art
At least 3 concept arts are in my mind right now, hope will be able to draw it out and paint it in details in the coming months.

100 Hits and Woot

1st, I like to apologize for the lack of updates. As most of you know I'm doing intern right now. I usually reach home at 9pm and then spend the rest of my night eating, bathing and watching discovery channel, that makes it an average 1-2 hours every night for me to lay my hands on personal project. And whenever I screw up my work, I'll be wasting that 1-2 hours, which I usually do.

Anyway, I would like to humbly thank everyone who visits my blog and supported it. Although it's not a big number, but getting 100 hits in less than a month really motivates me. Actually, I wanted to draw something as a token of appreciation, but like I said, it got screwed up, sorry for that.

'Sides that, I haven't discuss with my intern's boss about using the works I did in the company as my portfolio. SO, no intern works for the time being, hehe. But I'll try to get 1-2 works done in this weekend, as a way of 'redeeming' myself :P. So, until then...

Kappatron Final?

Sorry for posting late. I was away the whole day yesterday, due to some business and gathering with my old friends. Anyway, here's the coloured version of my Kappatron. I can't really say it's the final outcome, as I haven't touch up some details and the background. And I won't be completing it soon as well, just because I haven't done exploring vray for my intern which starts tomorrow =_=.

Well, like I said, it's a birthday present to my mentor/friend/housemate Alan, hahaha. You can view his gay works here http://genewiz.deviantart.com/. He's a mecha freak, so I thought of designing a mecha which suits him. As for the "kappa", well I don't really wanna explain why, LOL.

Drawing done by hand, wacom tablet, and corel painter 9. It took me quite some time, I'm still hell of a noob in painting, and I'm not out for a time attack, so yeah, this is the quality/standard I can produce now.

Okey then, again happy birthday to Alan (though it's still early to say it), hope my present suits you well.

Kappatron In Progress

I'm tired of doing Vray these few days. Just manage to draw few concept arts. Anyway, I'll post one of my recent concept art. Its a birthday gift to my friend. Though I'll be getting the colour done by either tomorrow or the day after that.

For the explanation, it's a mecha design base on the mythical creature from Jpan, Kappa (河童). For details, I'll elaborate after I get the colours done, LOL.

Anyway, these days I get migraine easily by wearing my glasses for whole fucking day. Just because of my freaking table, I'm sitting quite a distance from my monitor and I can't see properly without my glasses on, crap. And I seriously need a scanner.

Vray

I feel kinda bad if not posting for days. So, here's a random post of "something". Don't blame me for the uninteresting content. Well, if you are into graphics, perhaps you may even gain some knowledge.

Okey. I've been studying Vray for the past 2 days and I realise it is indeed a very cool renderer. It has detail parameters that enables you to control the micro-est thing about rendering, that's my opinion though. However, like the impression it gives me all along, the rendering is too nice and too perfect until it looks fake. Unless you are really good in texturing and micro-manage the parameters, do not hope to produce any super realistic result.

Bah, I don't know what to say more. I can only post some test renders here for you to view yourself. Anyway, if you are interested in picking up Vray, I'll be most happy to teach...... After I finish my intern i mean, hehehe.

My Photography - Vestige

Sorry for any delay of work, these few days it's either I'm busy on some chores or I'm doing my work on the paper. Unfortunately I don't have any scanner, so you won't be seeing any of my work in digital format soon.

In order not to disappoint someone who always check my blog for updates, here's another site which has a collection of my photos. Although I can't claim every piece is great, some does worth looking at.

http://fotologue.jp/edo/

Be adviced that it's a full flash website, it may take some time to load the page. And you may need to refresh once or twice to be able to get in. I'm so fucked up as my hard disk break down last time. I lost almost all my best photos along the hard disk. This is the only place that still keeps my work. Anyway, I'll be posting some of my top photos here. Enjoy.

Kara no Kyoukai

After months of waiting, finally I got my hands on this anime, from fan-subs of course. The creator of this story are those guys behind Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night, though it is animated by different studio.

So, what's the fuss of this anime? Well, if you know me, you would guess I have a distinguish taste for movies and animes. Kara no Kyoukai tells a rather dark and myterious story compare to TYPE-MOON's other masterpieces. It has a same setting and some similiar characters from Tsukihime. I'm a guy who likes those creepy and confusing story, so I'm kinda fond of this title.

What draws me the most is the superb art of this anime. And what's more, it has a freaking nice soundtrack to back the movie (yea, it's a movie) which really enhance the dark atmosphere. Overall, I could really call it a masterpiece, though the animation is slightly crappy, I mean the motion and flow.

Finally, although it's a movie, I think I need to wait for a whole year for the rest of the 6 pieces to come out =_=. Btw, it has a total of seven chapters/movies.

Death has never been so beautiful

I told you it's a masterpiece

Amateur MTV

wOOt!! Double post. I just remember the music video I did with my groupmates a year ago. That semester was hell, one final submission per day and lasted for whole hectic week.

Yea, its not as good as pro videos, but we are quite proud of our acheivement. It turned out better than we thought actually, especially playing the original camcorder tape on tv. Youtube downgraded our video quality a lot, dang =_=.

Anyway, again I would like to thank Alan and Kenny (u r DA MAN!!) for both their editing skills which made the video... possible... lol. And yea, never forget the whole group that put killer effort into the production XD. Especially Vincent who nearly fall to his death standing on top of the trolley just to act tall, LOL.

Note: Pay attention on the guy which wears red shirt with long hair during credits. Yea, tht's me a year ago. Artistic look ler, nyek nyek nyek...

Ironman In Progress

Alright, since I have posted most of my previous work, I'll be slowing down abit now. Most of my post now will be on the progress of my latest work. Even though I'm slowing down my pace, I'm on a high-spirited-uber-skill-boosting-mode, which means I'll produce 'some' artworks even I 'm on a deathbed.

Unfortunately, I will not be completing this piece soon. I have some other skills (interior design) I need to pick up to prepare for my internship. Anyhow, there'll be more artwork to see (yay!!), though most of it will be in experimental stage.

Damn, how I wish I could complete this soon T^T. Recently, I have the strong urge in doing mechas and machines. It could train my detail modeling a lot, which I really suck at, orz.

Aikido Club Poster/Flyer

The flyer/poster of our university's aikido club. Nothing special. I did the drawing using calligraphy style (my skill sucks XD) and further edited it in photoshop (POWA tool). Besides a self-defence, to me aikido is also an art. When I wanted to reflect "art" and "Japan", I tried approaching calligraphy technique to do the design.

Anyway, the calligraphy style I applied is inspired by a game from PS2, "Okami" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okami) which relies heavily on cell-shading technique.

Btw, if anyone is interested in joining aikido, you can contact the numbers listed there, since there aren't much dojo to train, my uni is fortunate enough to have a dojo.

Peaceful Warrior

Have you guys ever watch "Peaceful Warrior"? No? Me neither. So what's all about the movie? Honestly, if you guys are not into drama kind of story, you can skip this post. I got attracted by this movie thanks to it's interesting trailer. If you wanna know more look it through here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peaceful_Warrior

Now here's the stuff, in the movie there are a number of quotes which I find very useful to most of our daily lifes, especially to those who are artist wannabe like me :D. Anyway, the quotes below are taken from wiki which was entered by some jolly-good-fella (from the movie of course):

1. Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humour, and Change.

2. Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.

3. Humor: Keep a sense of humour, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure

4. Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

5. There is never nothing going on. There are no ordinary moments.

6. This moment: The past and the future do not matter; all that matters is now, this moment.

7. It's not the destination that brings happiness, but the journey.

8. Take out the trash from what's inside your head.

9. Empty your mind.

10. Everything has a purpose, even this, and it's up to you to find it.

11. A warrior does not give up what he loves, he finds the love in what he does.

12. I call myself a Peaceful Warrior... because the battles we fight are on the inside.

13. A warrior is not about perfection or victory or invulnerability. He's about absolute vulnerability.

14. There is no starting or stopping - only doing.

15. There's no greater purpose than service to others.

16. Everyone wants to tell you what to do and what's good for you. They don't want you to find your own answers, they want you to believe theirs.

17. I want you to stop gathering information from the outside and start gathering it from the inside.

18. People are not their thoughts, they think they are, and it brings them all kinds of sadness.

19. Death isn't sad. The sad thing is: most people don't live at all.

20. What time is it? Now.

Gamma 3rd Sem - Rally Simulation

Here's another lame work, again thanks to our lame lecturer's requirement and tight deadlines. We are required to do rally simulation as a group, but ended up driving simulation instead =_=.

Anyway, the car I modelled is Porsche 911 GT3. It's a low poly model, so don't complain the jagged edges. Furthermore, the reflection is artificially created in photoshop, that means I drawn the reflection and it's not generated by the 3D software, so don't complain that it looks fake.

I may do a revise version in the future, with higher polys and proper materials. Actually, I'm quite proud with my modeling skill :D. I'm able to model a Porsche with around apporximately 2500 polys, while normal car cost more than 100k polys. Impressed?

Gamme 2nd Sem - Some Crappy Works

Okay. Here are some other crappy works I did months ago. It's not that I wanted to create bunch of crappy works, it's all thanks to my lecturer and his fucking lame assignment. I would have forgiven him if we only did it for one semester. But no~~, we were told to do roughly the same crap for my last semester, which got me kinda pissed off.

Anyway, these works I presented here are way better than my final outcome. I rendered these guys out from 3Dmax, of course it'll be better than some no-name-crappy-wtf game software renderer. And for extra treat, I added the concept art for one of my projects, which is so far, my more satisfying drawings... Okok, I gotta admit it, my drawing sucks. And I'm still trying to improve as much as I could, so don't bash me... painfully...

Another crappy game with Lego theme (Legoman!!)

Concept art for the space-game-project

Concept art for the space-game-project
Alright, here's an assignment I enjoyed doing it very much. Why? Because we are free to do any charcater we like, with an environment that's relevant to the character. Modeling characters are kinda fun. To me, when you are designing a character, you would link personalities and traits to it. So, it influence how you design you characters base on their unique traits. And another thing is, you would need to figure out what kind of movement/actions/animation suits your character and how to exaggerate it. Does it look cute? Aggresive? Cool? Or just plain retarded?

For my character, I was inspired by the character from Square-Enix's "Legend of Mana", Cacti. Though I made it to look more badass, with a mafia attitude xD. To me, blades are cooler than guns, so no guns for him. I called him "Vino Cactaceae". Don't ask me how I got the name, it's a long story.

For the environment, I wanted to make a mexican-desert like surroundings. So, there goes the sand, mountains and cactuses. Well, we are not require to deal much with the environment, so I just slacked off and put minor effort into it XP.

Vino Cactaceae

He's gonna kick your ass real good

Neo Mexicano

Gotten lazy, less effort
Another work from 2nd year 1st semester, the only semester that I'm ACTUALLY learning something. Yet, another visualisation. Which means my 3D must be base on existing buildings. And this time, a building from Terengganu's Chinatown.

It's a clinic actually. I still remember the doctor who owns the place is quite friendly. He gave me a warm welcome when I wanted to take photos of the clinic for references. He told me to post my final work to him, though I gotten lazy and in the end, lost his contact XP.

Well, most of the models are low poly, so don't complain that it looks jagged. Though I'm kinda proud of my acheivement in texturing, which I can claim is my most superior skill. But it always takes me days to do nice texturing on minor things, heck =_=.

Exterior 1

Exterior 2

Interior 1

Interior 2
Done around a year ago. We are required to design an interior base on certain theme, and the furnitures used must be base on existing furniture taken from catalogues and stuffs.

The theme I based on is nature design for dining room. For the furnitures, I took from a lot of sources til I forgotten where (or which websites). That's all, I'm kinda lazy to elaborate into details.

Here's my 1st presentable work, did it around one-and-the-half year ago. We are required to make an animatiing environment or journey based on a chosen emotion, with simple shapes and form. Well, like my title suggest, I did "fear" with a touch of chinese culture. Btw, the images you see are enhanced and edited with photoshop. Heck, who cares? as long as it looks good.

1st stage: funeral lanterns and tunnel

2nd stage: abandon temple

3rd stage: wind chimes and abandon building

Prologue

Here I am, starting yet another new blog. One thing about blog is, you need to keep it updated time to time, to keep your readers around or keep yourself motivated to write, and I failed to do it most of the time. At times, I'm so fucking busy with my work, and when I'm done, the only thing I wanna do is slack off. Okok, it's my fault...

So, what's with this new blog I'm starting? Frankly, I have nothing fresh to offer. Well, not really... I'm gonna post my artwork here from now on, since I don't have any decent portfolio site. However, rather than posting all completed works, I will post the progress of my lastest work. Reasons? One, to keep myself motivated, two, to document my work, three, to keep readers around (duh).

Okay, what's more... Erm... Oh, I hope anyone who's reading my blog can frequently hang around (there's a chat box), give some comments, or perhaps introduce my blog to anyone you know :D. I would be definitely grateful if you guys could help expand my network, and perhaps get me hired by some good companies in the future (hell yeah!!!).
